You know that thing when lyricists say they don’t like to explain the meaning of songs to let listeners draw their own conclusions from their own experiences?
I prefer the long form explanation from the lyricist.
Oh shit. It’s always been a song that hits for me (hence the “the light was starting to fade
and I could feel the reaper”-tattoo), but knowing the background story….oof. Thanks for sharing, I think I’m gonna go back to that song now and have a nice little weep while listening to it 😅
Closure and Bare hands are a couple of my favourite songs that always felt extremely underrated, so the context here I think makes Closure that much more interesting and bitter sweet in conjunction :,)
And this is exactly why this song deserves a spot in the regular live rotation. A small intro to it could help. Also I believe that certain songs can stick out a little in a setlist. Like a thematic block or so. Flow is also created by variety and different moods (quiet and louder songs together I mean). Just go for it, guys.
Closure always resonated with me, especially in 2019 when I experienced a breakup and my grandma passing away in a couple month span. Reading this genuinely made me tear up and appreciate the song even further. Thanks yall.
Damn, I've always connected to the song anyway, but hearing Thor's story makes it hit even harder. Another entry in the sad animal song category ("Damini" by USS and "Lonesome George" by Hollerado are the others at the moment).
I read this after I learned about today's lead story and it really resonated with me. I love this song, always have, always will. And now it's even more special to me knowing the story behind it. Thank you for sharing.
as a casual fan, I really assumed Closure was one of the bigger singles, just based on the song vibes. It was the first PUP song I ever heard and my favorite to this day. The catharsis of scream-singing it is unmatched.

Seconded
Was not expecting to cry when I opened this pup email 🥺🫣
This song always hit hard, but now it's harder. T ^T

Bare hands is my all time favourite pup song, I hope they drop some demos or context behind it because they never play it live :(

Closure has always had a spot close to my heart lyrically. I’ve never clicked on a notification faster! Thanks for sharing this tidbit 🫀
I think a big reason why this song did blow up is because it’s on Morbid Stuff and is surrounded by massive bangers.
Closure has always hit for me but hearing the context makes it hit different.

Sleep in the heat would also fall into that category, in case you wanted to add another song to the list 😅
Oh duh, of course! Good call!
This is a great origin story for that song! 👏

What a beautiful origin story, thank you for sharing! 💜
