Eyyy everyone. Thanks for being a paid subscriber to this $ub$tack. I was gonna record a cover this week but I kinda got overwhelmed by existential dread (see the second half of this newsletter) so that may have to wait for a minute.

I’m in the middle of moving. It’s such an emotional experience, taking stock of all the things that make up who you are, realizing a bunch of them represent a very specific moment in your life, acknowledging them, then chucking em in the trash.

The weirdest part was digging out boxes of journals that I’ve filled with lyrics and writing over the past 5 years. I write every day, but today was the first time I’ve gone back and read some of what I wrote. 5 years ago I was in a very different stage in my life than I am now, it’s wild to read. 5 years ago we were coming home from a cancelled tour through empty airports and wondering if we’d just played the last show we’d ever play. No offence to Eugene Oregon, but that’s not how I wanted to go out. That show kinda sucked ass.

A totally normal, definitely not unhinged number of journals to have filled in the last few years.
