Well, the record’s been out a week now. We’ve played 3 UK shows (about to be 4 in a couple minutes). There’s a weird thing when you start playing new songs live, and it happens on every record. People don’t know what to do when they hear songs they’re not super familiar with. When we first put out DVP people stood still when we played it and stared at us like ‘what is this trash’. But these new songs feel different. People seem stoked, and I’m grateful. People singing along and going off and it rules.

I really like playing Hallways. That song was born of pure misery, but it’s fucking fun to play live. It seems to be connecting with people. There’s nothing I love more than singing songs about wanting to die while having a wonderful time. Truly, it is one of the great pleasures of my life, so thank you for coming to a show and making us feel gooooood.
The four of us are doing this new thing where we try and enjoy stuff. It’s wild. I wonder how long it’ll last. For instance, Nestor and Steve got a tour of the Leeds football stadium the other day. Shout out Tom for hooking that up and for the custom PUP jerseys.

I didn’t go for a couple reasons. Number one: boring. Number two: I was really tired coz we stayed up til 3am the night before watching the Leafs game.
Anyway, the next morning, everyone was going to that soccer footie pitch or whatever they call it over here. But my brain was tingling. Not because I was hungover - I didn’t drink a drop - it’s just this thing where my brain’s been tingling on and off the past few weeks, especially when I’m tired.
It all started when I accidentally put a screwdriver through my skull. The screen on my bedroom window was busted and I was trying to pry it out to fix it but the screw driver slipped. I missed my eye by half an inch. It was really early in the morning and I hadn’t had coffee yet so I wiped up the blood with an old t-shirt, then tied the t-shirt around my face and walked the 3 blocks to the nearest coffee shop, because, coffee.
I got to the coffee shop and the lady who works there speaks mostly Portuguese, she saw me and just said “you bleeding. from you face”. I said “please miss, don’t talk to me before I’ve had my coffee”.
Maybe I should’ve gone to the hospital. I probably needed stitches. But I was supposed to be in Los Angeles that afternoon, so I went to the airport instead. Now I’ve got this little scar on my face forever which is fun. It’s pointing down above my eye. It looks like I have an extra tiny angry eyebrow. Which you know what, I’m ok with that. But every now and then it starts tingling again, which is maybe cause for concern? I dunno I choose not to google it.
What was I talking about? The shows. Yeah the shows have been really good. Thank you for coming to the shows. We’ve been playing a lot of old stuff, but also a lotta new stuff, and it’s all been going over great. Except maybe Concrete. Nobody really sings along to Concrete yet, but I think it’s a grower. We’re gonna keep playing it because we like that song a lot, and I bet, eventually, you will too.
Anyway, thank you for reading my first tour journal, if that’s what this is. I dunno what it is actually. Sorry! Oh well! If you haven’t yet, please listen to Who Will Look After The Dogs? We’re very proud of it.
OK GOTTA GO PLAY THE MANCHESTER GIG, BYE
